Mangrove Planting in Olango island -Phase 15-
March 19, 2016. The Kanepackage Group of Companies officials and employees conducted its 14th mangrove planting activity at Brgy. Asinan, Olango Island, Cebu. Taking part in restoring a cleaner atmosphere, the employees together with the active members of the Olango Island Eco-tourism Association (OIETA) planted a total of 500 mangrove propagules and seedlings of Rhizophora species and Avicennia marina. Participants of the said activity showed enthusiasm and interest while planting mangroves. With the growing negative effect of climate change, this positive environmental contribution offers to help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. Upholding the company’s commitment to pursue and sustain an eco-friendly legacy for Kanepackage Group of Companies and for future generations.
After feeling accomplished by planting mangroves, the participants took their time-out and enjoyed island hopping tour in nearby islets around Olango Island. They went fish feeding in Nalusuan Marine Sanctuary, while snorkeling and swimming with colorful fishes in Gilutungan Island. Participants also relished and had a group picture taken in Sulpa Island where a little paradise with powdery white sand and cool breeze awaited them. For the participants this whole experience is one of a kind; they helped and conserved the environment and in return immersed their selves into wondrous place like Olango Island.
