The Kanepackage Group of Companies continues to fulfill its commitment to plant more mangroves in protected areas. A total of ten thousand (10,000) mangroves were planted last February 25, 2023 in the designated planting site recommended by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during low tide. The protected site is located near Banacon Island. A 35-minute boat ride from the main fishing port in Getafe, Bohol. Thirty-nine (39) participants from KP affiliates and customers joined the mangrove planting and tour. The Banacon Fisherfolks Mangrove Planters Association (BAFMAPA) assisted during the planting activity.
From the Bohol-Panglao International Airport, the participants traveled to the Loboc River Floating Restaurant. While cruising the clear waters of the Loboc River, tourists are feasting on sumptuous Filipino dishes. Participants have the experience of dancing with the local folks as part of the river cruising.
The Bohol tour would not be complete without taking photos and getting up close to one of the endemic species in the Philippines. The group went to the Tarsier Sanctuary to witness the endangered species in their natural habitat. The tarsiers are resting in the trees in branches and underneath the leaves. After the group photo, participants traveled another hour to the next tourist spot.
The group did not miss the opportunity to visit the famous Chocolate Hills in the municipality of Carmen. The famed Chocolate Hills got its name from the golden-brown hue color when grasses die off during the dry season. There are about 1,766 hills mounted on more than 50 square kilometers. The participants never missed taking photos after climbing more than 200 steps and reaching the viewing deck.
